Glass Bezel and Light Gun Sensor

Here is the new and improved painted safety glass. It’s a thousand times better than the matteboard.. I am delighted with how it looks.  The monitor image seems to hover in the blackness of the glass.

Here you see how I mounted the Aimtrak LED Lightgun Sensor.

The foam board bezel I was using just wasn’t doing it for me.  I could see it through the tinted safety glass and it looked homemade. To make a painted bezel, I masked off and painted on the back of the tinted glass.  The little notches are for the Aimtrak LEDs.

Thanks for posting your great arcade build. I have built my cabinet and I am getting ready to build the monitor bezel. I am using a 16:10 lcd monitor. I am planning on buying 2 aimtrak guns. Since you’ve been there, I have a couple questions.

    1) I see you mounted the tv IR module horizontally vs the normal on top of the tv. Do you have to bend the tabs straight vs angled? Is the best option to decase the module? I saw another arcade builder install the module on top of the lcd tv (vertical) by drilling several holes for the lcd tabs? All oideas appreciated:)
    2) I was planning to use Tap plexi but wow, your safety glass looks great. I am planning to paint the plexi/ safety glass black as you did. I’ve been told to use 35% plexi/ glass to get that float in the air effect but the plexi seems to come 14% (Dark) or 58% (Light). Where did you get your safety glass from? Can I order it online and have it shipped? What tint do you recommend to get for LCD tv with a painted bezel. Thanks and Happy Holidays
